Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights

Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)

For many women and girls living on the Lake Victoria islands, accessing accurate reproductive health information or services is a daily struggle. Cultural barriers, stigma, limited health facilities, and long travel distances leave many with unanswered questions, unsafe choices, and preventable health risks. Teenage pregnancies, HIV infections, crisis pregnancies, and gender-based violence continue to threaten not only their well-being, but also their future opportunities.

RAHI’s SRHR program exists to change this reality by creating safe, supportive spaces where women and young people can access the care, knowledge, and dignity they deserve. We work closely with communities to provide compassionate guidance, confidential services, and reliable information that empowers individuals to make informed decisions about their bodies and futures. For girls facing crisis pregnancies, we offer non-judgmental support and link them to essential services. For women and couples, we promote healthy relationships, family planning awareness, and access to life-saving reproductive health care.

This work goes beyond health, it is about protecting rights, strengthening confidence, and ensuring that every woman and adolescent has the freedom to live a life of safety, choice, and possibility. When young people have access to accurate information and respectful care, they are better equipped to avoid exploitation, stay in school, and build brighter futures. When communities understand and support SRHR, families become healthier, relationships become safer, and entire communities grow stronger.
